Despite the Photographer of the Year Award recognising a different winner every year since 2016, West Australian Richard Hathaway is now the first two-time and back to back winner after claiming the prize last year in Melbourne.
After last year’s award, Auto Action magazine produced a full feature on Richard’s work, noting his passion and eye for detail, while capturing his philosophy and approach to the craft.
Once again in 2024-25, Richard ventured outside of the familiar territory of WA venues to capture some of the blue ribbon events on the east coast including Murray Bridge, Tolmer and Warrnambool, quickly adapting to the different environments to capture more outstanding work.
Richard’s masterful studio racecar shots could be the secret sauce that distinguishes him in the industry, showcasing the sport in a showroom environment in stark contrast to the racecar’s native dirt track home.
