Strategic Plan

Building a Safe, Sustainable and Nationally Aligned Future for Speedway

Speedway Australia’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 sets out a clear, nationally consistent approach to governing, developing and supporting speedway across Australia. As the recognised governing body, the organisation is focused on strengthening safety, integrity, participation and long‑term sustainability, while supporting clubs, venues and participants at all levels of the sport.

Our Purpose, Vision and Mission

Purpose

To foster a strong, safe and inclusive speedway community across Australia.

Vision

A strong and sustainable future for speedway across Australia.

Mission

To lead, govern, protect and advance speedway through national standards, strong safety and integrity frameworks, and practical support for clubs, venues, and participants.

Strategic Pillars

Our work is focused across three interconnected pillars:

1. Governance, Safety and Integrity

We are strengthening nationally consistent rules, policies and integrity systems to ensure safe and fair competition. This includes:

  • Modernising the rulebook and policy framework
  • Implementing a national venue safety and compliance framework
  • Aligning with national integrity standards and partner organisations
  • Establishing advisory and oversight mechanisms to support best practice governance.

2. Participation, Pathways and Community

We are growing participation and improving the experience of everyone involved in speedway by:

  • Expanding inclusive and accessible participation programs
  • Strengthening development pathways for officials and participants
  • Supporting youth engagement and under‑represented groups
  • Enhancing the value and experience of licence and permit holders

3. Advocacy, Funding and Industry Support

We are supporting clubs, venues and the broader sport through:

  • Targeted grant and rebate programs
  • Support for accessing government and external funding
  • Advocacy to strengthen recognition and investment in speedway
  • Recognition programs to celebrate excellence and contribution

Organisational Capability

To deliver these priorities, Speedway Australia is strengthening its internal capability through:

  • Digital transformation and improved national data systems
  • More efficient and consistent service delivery
  • Strong financial planning, governance and sustainability
  • Disciplined investment management to support long‑term outcomes

These enablers ensure the organisation is fit‑for‑purpose, accountable, and positioned for national leadership.

Governance, Accountability and Measurement

Delivery of the Strategic Plan is underpinned by strong governance and clear accountability:

  • The Board provides oversight, approval and performance monitoring
  • Management is responsible for delivery and implementation
  • Progress is reported regularly against defined outcomes and milestones
  • Strategy ownership is assigned to specific roles to ensure accountability

Performance is measured across key domains including:

  • Safety and risk outcomes
  • Governance and integrity
  • Participation and retention
  • Stakeholder experience
  • Grants and funding impact
  • Digital capability and operational performance
  • Financial sustainability

Our Commitment

Through this Strategic Plan, Speedway Australia reaffirms its commitment to:

  • Protecting participants and strengthening safety standards
  • Delivering consistent, transparent and accountable governance
  • Growing participation and building inclusive communities
  • Supporting clubs and venues to thrive

Together, these actions will position speedway for a strong, sustainable and nationally aligned future.
