Junior Competitor of the Year – Harrison Beres (SSA Junior Sedans)

Harrison Beres claimed the SSA Junior Sedan National Title at Kingaroy Speedway in January, some 4000km from their home in Tenterden, Western Australia.

However the family’s resolve was tested early on in their east coast tour, with their tow vehicle sustaining a blown engine, forcing the purchase of a new car to continue the journey.

Harrison then had to retire from the NSW Title while running fifth with a mechanical issue, however his fortunes were turned around the following week with a runner up at the Victorian Title at Wangaratta, before heading home to West Australia to make the podium again at the West Australian Title at Collie later in the season.

Harrison also claimed the SSA Junior Sedan Southeast Open Championship at Esperance Speedway, and continued to stand on one of the top three spots at the majority of events entered throughout Western Australia, including in the ultra competitive JSRA Series Rounds.

Away from the clay, Harrison also juggles speedway competition with Hyundai Excel Cup Racing where he almost clinched the Rookie of the Year Title and is the first athlete from a motorsport discipline to be selected for a Great Southern Academy of Sport scholarship to support him in health, fitness and nutrition.
