Appeals and Tribunals

Penalties imposed by a Chief Steward can be appealed unless they fall into the following catagories – in which case the infringment is binding and final:

a) Race Car specifications (rule 7.9.1);

b) Noise requirements (rule 3.5);

c) Technical inspections (rule 7.9.2).

The procedure for instituting an appeal is to lodge the prescribed form with the Drivers Representative, Chief Steward or Host Club/Divisions within 24 hours of being informed of the Chief Steward’s decision (whether verbal or by way of Infringement Notice) together with an appeal fee of $500. If however, the Infringement Notice is received on a day after the relevant race meeting, the Licence Holder shall have 24 hours to lodge the prescribed form with the Host Club/Divisional Body. The appeal is to be heard as soon as practicable after receiving the infringement notice once the appeal is lodged.
